To
connect basketball to life at large, I felt I had to visit the subject
of governmentor, as I would soon find out, governance.
What better person to provide a tutorial than Bill Bradley, who
had ascended to world champion and Olympic gold medalist status
as a ballplayer, and to Oxford and the U.S. Senate as a scholar
and public servant? I caught up with him in Des Moines, where he
was already stumping in advance of the 2000 Iowa caucuses.
Early in the book I confess how Bradley served as the lodestar of
my youth. Here is the 8" x 10" glossy photo, signed by
the great one, by which I navigated.
