 My
journey began in Princeton, and that’s where it ended—in
a pick-up game at Jadwin Gym that included the unlikeliest of participants,
former Princeton coach and recent Basketball Hall of Fame inductee
Pete Carril.As it happens, I’m back on campus for the spring semester of 2002, teaching an undergraduate seminar called Writing About Sports and the Wider World—and showing up at Jadwin Gym for the lunch-bunch run as often as I can. I don’t know if I’ll get many backdoor opportunities like the one depicted here. But I did take away at least one undergirding truth from my year on the road: For every basketball action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction.  WEB
